Victim\Witness Program
Mission Statement:
The Park County Victim/Witness Program ensures that all victims of crime be treated with fairness and compassion and strives to uphold or restore their dignity thoughout the criminal justice process. We acomplish this by providing information and assistance to victims of crime, ensuring victims receive notice of legal rights, keeping victims updated on important developments in their case and provides them the opportunity to express their concerns and to have their questions answered. The Program provides victims with information on community resources and referrals to other community orgainizations.
The Victim/Witness Coordinators strive to ensure that victims are aware of and receive the services available to them. Services provided include, but are not limited to:
- Notification of court hearings
- Accompanying Victims/Witnesses to Court
- Information about the status of a criminal case
- Assistance with Court ordered restitution
- Assistance in filing Victim Compensation claims
- Referrals for community and social services
- Facilitation in the return of evidence

WYOMING VICTIM BILL OF RIGHTS
The right to be treated with compassion, respect and sensitivity within the criminal justice system;
The right to know the whereaouts of the offender and the current status of the case;
The right to receive restitution from offenders;
The right to know all rights under this law including information about services and victim assistance at the local level;
The right to know about victim compensation;
The right to reasonable protection and safety and the right to know of legal recourse if threatened;
The right to prompt return of property;
The right to preservation of employment while participating in the criminal justice process;
The right to be informed about the opportinuty to make a Vicitim Impact Statement at sentencing and parole hearings;
The right to be present at trial.
